Ideas
"Wales is one of the few world nations with sustainable development at the heart of government. Young people have a right to understand the crucial issues facing the planet and know how they can personally play a part in helping shape the future. No school should feel it is unable to help its pupils gain these perspectives". http://www.esd-wales.org.uk/english/welcome.asp
We are always thinking of new ideas and projects to help reduce our carbon footprint, improve sustainable development and global citizenship. Here are a few of our ideas. Do you have an idea or a suggestion? Send us an email.
We aim to encourage wildlife, bugs and insects by planting trees and shrubs around the school site. It will enhance the environment and the trees will help neutralise CO2.
When we make our compost we plan to sell it and use the money to buy a poly tunnel and grow vegetables and continue to make compost. We are considering the possiblity of establishing connections with a local garden centre and selling our compost. Other possibilities include, throwing a Chepstow garden festival and selling our plants, compost and organically grown vegetables. With our money that we get from selling our compost to people we will put all of our money together, to buy a shed so that we can people can bring in thing to recycle .We could have different bin like card, paper, plastic and we could have a cloths bin and, we can give them to people with not many cloths. People can come in to school and just drop it off in the shed and then one of the teachers could take it to a recycling shop and they could recycle it for us.
We could support other schools like the Dell Primary School give some compost to them, so that can plant vegetables and things like that. We could also get a compost bin for them so that they can get off the ground with it so then, they can go home and they can stat to compost thing at home, they can put all the food that is left in the house into the bin.
We could also tell them if there is paper that is half used do not put it in the bin they can get a recycling bin as they can put it in there, because if you but it ion the bin they will have to cut down some trees to make paper.

Keep an eye out for us at parents evening. We are planning to have a stand at parents evening to give people ideas on how to be green and help to save the planet. We are also going to hand out leaflets to give people more ideas to take home with them.
What can you do to help?

To do list:
- Turn off lights when you are not using a room.
- Don't put the heating on just put a jumper on.
- Turn the TV off by the plug.
- Collect rain water to water the plants.
- Walk if it is less than 3 miles!
- Grow your own food
How to live green in the school.
To live green in a school you can get lift share to get to school because if everyone in the school had a lift share that would be at least half the cars. You can also walk catch the bus, walking is the more greener and more healthier option then catch the bus would be the next best option because there is more people on there, but try to do any of these.
You can also live green in a school by putting lots more insulation and then you can turn the heating down because the school will be warmer. Also schools can grow there own fruit and vegetables. You can get a solar panel to stop using up lots of electricity. If we do all of this we won't only be saving the world we will be saving money which can buy school books and sporting equipment to help the school.
How we can help Chepstow become a more eco-friendly place?
We could possibly get the local schools together and show them that recycling can be fun by making art by making sculptures and other art models that will inspire them to recycle a lot more.
Put signs in all the shops in the Chepstow high street about the dangers of global warming and why they should recycle and at the same time it alerts the local shops of the dangers of global warming. Then they might start recycling the waste products of there stock.
